Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to BleDiscovery by Absolute Bollocks Creations (absolutebollockscreations.com). BleDiscovery is a free Garmin Connect IQ diagnostic application, available through the Garmin Connect IQ Store. It scans for nearby Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) fitness devices and probes their Bluetooth services and characteristics so you can see whether a device is likely to work with Connect IQ apps. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how data is accessed and used.

Scope
This policy covers the BleDiscovery Connect IQ app and this website page hosting the policy. It does not cover Garmin’s own services. Your use of Garmin devices, Garmin Connect, and the Connect IQ Store is governed by Garmin’s terms and privacy policies. It also does not cover the Bluetooth devices you choose to scan, which are operated by you or their respective manufacturers.
Our Approach
BleDiscovery is designed to run on your Garmin device. By default, everything it collects stays on the device. There are no user accounts, no advertising, and no background collection. Data leaves your device only if you explicitly choose to upload a session (see “Optional Session Upload” below).
Information the App Accesses
While scanning and probing, BleDiscovery works with a limited amount of technical Bluetooth information:
- BLE session data: advertised names and identifiers of nearby BLE devices, advertised service UUIDs, signal strength (used to estimate approximate distance), and a limited amount of raw connection and packet data observed during a probe session.
- Device service and characteristic profiles: detailed technical descriptions of a probed device’s Bluetooth GATT services, characteristics, descriptors, and sample read/notification values, used to assess Connect IQ compatibility.
- Email address (optional, from app settings): if you configure an email address in the app’s settings, it is used to label and route a session report only when you choose to upload one. It is not used for marketing.
BleDiscovery does not collect GPS or precise location, health or workout history, contacts, or any personal profile data. The Bluetooth device identifiers it observes are technical identifiers of nearby equipment, used solely to build the compatibility report.
On-Device by Default
All scanning, probing, and report generation happen on your Garmin device. If you never upload a session, no session data leaves your device. Session data held on the device is transient and is cleared in the normal course of using the app.
Optional Session Upload
After a probe session, the app may ask whether you want to upload the results. Uploading is entirely optional and opt-in on a per-session basis — you confirm each upload with a clear Yes/No prompt, and you can always decline.
If you choose to upload, the session report (the BLE session data and device service/characteristic profile described above), together with any email address you configured, is sent securely to Absolute Bollocks Creations for diagnostic review. We use uploaded reports only to understand device compatibility and to help improve BleDiscovery and related apps. If you decline the upload, nothing is transmitted.
How Data Is Used
- To generate an on-device compatibility report for the device you are testing.
- If (and only if) you upload, to diagnose BLE device compatibility with Connect IQ and improve our apps.
- To respond to any support request you send us that includes an uploaded report or diagnostic details.
We do not sell personal information, do not run advertising networks, and do not add you to marketing lists.
Website Analytics
Our website (absolutebollockscreations.com), which hosts this policy page, may use:
- Cloudflare Web Analytics (beacon-based) to understand page views and country of origin.
- Netlify download tracker for anonymous click counts on outbound/download links.
These website analytics are separate from the app and do not receive your BLE session data. No cookies or personal identifiers are set by these trackers on our site.
User Controls
- You choose whether to install/enable BleDiscovery on your Garmin device.
- You decide whether to configure an email address in the app’s settings.
- You confirm or decline every session upload individually.
- You can remove the app at any time from your device via Connect IQ / device settings.
Data Storage and Retention
On-device session data is transient and exists only as needed to build a report. Reports you choose to upload are retained by us only as long as reasonably necessary for the diagnostic and improvement purposes described above, and are not used for any unrelated purpose. If you would like us to delete an uploaded report you sent, contact us at [email protected].
Data Sharing
- We do not sell or share your information for advertising or marketing.
- Uploaded reports are used internally for diagnostics and app improvement.
- We may share limited information with infrastructure providers that host our website and process uploads on our behalf, or where required by law.
Security
- Uploads are transmitted over HTTPS and are cryptographically signed to help verify their integrity and origin.
- We use reasonable technical measures to protect information, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
International Data Transfers
Our infrastructure and service providers may process information in multiple countries, including the United States and the European Union. If you choose to upload a session, you understand that the report may be processed in these locations. Where required, providers may rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., GDPR, UK GDPR, U.S. state privacy laws), you may have rights to:
- Access and receive a copy of information you provided to us
- Request correction or deletion of an uploaded report
- Withdraw consent (e.g., decline uploads, remove your configured email, or uninstall the app)
- Object to processing where permitted by law
Because BleDiscovery does not operate user accounts, most privacy choices are made directly in the app (whether to upload, whether to configure an email). For app-specific questions, contact us at [email protected].
Children’s Privacy
BleDiscovery is a technical diagnostic tool intended for a general, primarily adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, legal requirements, or the services we use. The latest version will be available on our website. We do not send individual notices of policy updates, so please check this page periodically.
